We're starting off with a bang for our 3rd edition of Humans of Sunseap!

Most people believe that Sunseap is the top go-to company in Singapore if you are keen to be working at the forefront of the solar industry, driving sustainability in the country. So, what is it like, you wonder, working in such a company? Is it really as fulfilling as one might think? How are the people here like?

Today, We've prepared some answers for you, from our very own Humans of Sunseap!

Rinn Teo, Marketing & Communications Intern (myself 😄)

Rinn Teo

Let me start of by introducing myself 😄. My name is Rinn, and I've just joined the company slightly more than a month ago! Although it hasn't been that long, allow me to share some real and reliable insights!

Just to share about why I decided to join Sunseap. I really LOVE nature and enjoying beautiful sceneries, especially when I travel overseas. I would always opt for rural areas and stay in cottages or the countryside, instead of being in cities. Air feels fresher and most importantly, there isn't much air pollution.

Here are some pictures that I took during my travels :D

You just don't get to enjoy such scenic views in cities overcrowded with towering concrete buildings.

Before joining the company, I was a freelance fiction writer. Joining Sunseap has allowed to expand my horizon in terms of writing styles as I was used to writing fiction. Being a nature lover coupled with my interest in writing, it was a no-brainer for me to join Sunseap as I saw it as a golden opportunity for me to contribute in fighting against climate change and in protecting the environment.

I'm not going to lie. Before my first day at the company, I've thought that I wouldn't enjoy working here. Personally, big companies always give me the impression of fierce bosses and unreasonable colleagues. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to fit in.

But I couldn't be more wrong.

Sunseap colleagues chilling in our awesome café-cum-meeting room.

Upon reaching the office for the first time, I was warmly welcomed by Jennifer from HR. Knowing that the first person that brought me in was someone friendly, it definitely eased my tension a little.

Soon after, a colleague of mine that I was told I will be working with then led me around the building. That was when I realized that I didn't have to worry so much in the first place. The office is of an open concept, and my colleagues are really friendly. What intrigued me the most was the flat hierarchy that Sunseap has.

That's enough about me and my long-winded rant; Henceforth, I will introduce some colleagues of Sunseap 😄.

Susan Loh, the Café manager who never fails to bring a smile to our faces and who fill our tummies.

Susan, doing her to part to remind us to stay hygienic during the pandemic.

A good pantry is often a pretty accurate indication of a good company. How can we work without a proper place to chill during breaks? This pantry – commonly called the café or Joy Division, also doubles as a meeting room for Sunseap.

We have this sweet and lovely café manager, Susan, that provides delicious breakfast for us every morning when our stomachs are growling. It is not a stretch to say that the Susan is as important as the coffee that we need every morning that gives us a boost.

Hear directly from Susan as I sought to find out more about her!

I personally feel that the IT department is like the father of a company. They respond to all of our technical issues, just like how fathers usually do. They take care of us, complying to our needs. Truly, the IT department can be compared to an unsung hero, a description that is usually given to fathers.

And that's it for the 3rd edition of Humans of Sunseap!
