SUNSET Grid-Connected Systems
On the following pages you will find an overview of our standard grid-connected systems for power production of up to 5 kWp. The components used in these systems are described individually and in detail. Large-scale systems are either compiled from several standard systems or are designed to the customer’s individual wishes. All systems offered are built with high-quality components, as demonstrated by thousands of applications. The components are optimised to match perfectly, thus ensuring ideal system efficiency and high power production efficiency.
SUN3Grid® and SUNstring® inverters
With all bigger installations we prefer using SUN3Grid® and SUNstring® inverters of the
latest generation. With these so-called string inverters the solar generators are wired in
module strings and directly connected to the inverter. To increase the efficiency of the
installation the inverter usually is cool and dry mounted. All safety circuits required for the
operation are already integrated in the inverter.
Solar generators
Since the end of 2003 we deliver grid-connected systems with SUNSET AS and TWIN solar
generators with pre-selected stringing. An optimum wiring of the solar generators leads to a
maximum result. We offer this extra service automatically and without surcharge.
Substructures
We offer a fitting and easy-to-install substructure for nearly all kinds of roofs. Our standard
systems SDMA and FDMA can be used on the most types of roofing with only small
modifications. We put our main focus on developing new systems that were easy to handle
and install to keep the costs at a minimum.
Data logging system SUNlog® - light
Our data logging system, SUNlog® light, may be used for all inverters on offer, to evaluate
and visualize the inverter data. With this system it is possible to represent the data on a PC
in the form of monthly and/or yearly curves. To exhibit the data to the public, a large display
board or a moving message display may be connected.
New to our product range is SUNvision®-TV. With this appliance you can display the
operation data, gathered by the inverter, with ease and economically on any standard TV.

The systems described in this catalogue are just a small selection of possible configurations that we can deliver. Our engineers and technicians can design systems at short notice, tailor-made to suit each client’s wishes, for products not in this catalogue. The SUN3Grid® 4000/5000/6000 inverters set a new standard in the area of photovoltaic inverters.
Especially with medium-sized installations of up to 100 kWp, using our SUN3Grid® inverter a very high efficiency of nearly 96% per year can be achieved. Thanks to the SUN3Grid® inverter cut-off at night (0 Watt) the installation of a second supply meter and it’s additional costs are unnecessary. An optimisation of the supply power can already be reached with partial load because of that high efficiency.
Since the regulation based safety and control functions required for the operation are already i
ntegrated, the installation effort could be reduced to a great extent.

SUNSET large display board

Show what your SUNSET grid-connected system is up to and display the performance data with a SUNSET large display board.
SUNSET large display boards can be connected directly to an impulse metre, with out bothering with otherwise necessary measuring technology. Installation of costly measuring technology is thus not necessary and the display can be operated strait away. Our displays have are extremely cost- effective.
All SUNSET displays have the following features:
• 7 red segment bars (LED), very bright
• 45 or 60 mm digit height
• 5 or 6 digits

SUNlog® light
A datalogger and measuring system for PV plants

SUNlog® light was developed as a datalogger for PV plants with an output of more than 1 kW. The high energy demand of datalogging with personal computers has been reduced by 98 %.
System components:
• The datalogger log® light is placed
near the inverter and reads data
from the inverter via a serial
interface. Power is supplied via an
AC adapter. The datalogger con-
sists of a micro-controller with
program, buffer memory, as well as
interfaces, and analogue terminals.
LED’s to indicate status and power
supply terminals for sensors are
also included.
• The insolation sensor SUNlux (IS)
is installed on the solar generator.
The IS contains a silicon sensor in
a weatherproof aluminium casing to
measure insolation. The measured analogue data is transmitted via a shielded cable to the
daterlogger, which also supplies the sensors with power. |

• Standard software SUNlog®, which is installed on a personal computer, evaluates, visualizes, and transmits performance data. It is a compatible with our SUNvision® light software package.
The data is digitalized and stored. Insolation, produced, and grid-feed energy, as well as operating hours are recorded and daily, monthly, and yearly averages calculated and stored. In addition insolation and power values are calculated as 4-minuite averages and stored as a two-week curve in the datalogger. The stored data can be transferred to a personal computer at any time. As long as a PC is connected to the datalogger, current values can be shown online. Optionally the datalogger can be connected to a moving message display or to a large display board to present texts and performance data. Sensors for ambient and module temperature, and data cables are also available.
Electronics:
8-Bit micro controller, 128 Kbytes EEPROM for system software, 128 Kbytes RAM
(basic features) for data (buffer), 8 x 10-bit A/D transducer on chip, watchdog, real-
time clock, 2 serial interface RS232. Power consumption <5W.
Terminals:
8 analogue ports, 0 (4) - 20 mA active or passive
2 impulse ports with S0 interface according to DIN 43 864
Mechanics:
Metal casing approx. 240 x 180 x 40 mm³, plug connections above/in front,
pluggable screw claps for analogue signals. 4 LED‘s i operation, data transfer and operational status.
